In 2 Peter 3:1-10, Peter assures his readers that Jesus will return. But there are some who doubt, who scoff at the idea of Jesus’ return. In this part of his letter, Peter shows the error in the scoffers’ arguments. He points out that they deliberately overlook precedence for God’s judgment. He shows that they have a limited perspective in light of eternity. And he demonstrates that any imagined delay is really God’s patience toward his elect, and is no reason to question Jesus’ return.
